What is gum disease and why do I suffer from it?
Gum disease is one of the commonest diseases
It is caused by germs around the necks and roots of the teeth
When the germs are not removed the gums become infected
Advanced gum disease cannot be cured but it can be managed
Signs and Symptoms
Early (Gingivitis)
Often no symptoms and pain free
Red, swollen bleeding gums
Deposits on teeth
Bad taste
Bad breath
Late
A gap forms between the tooth and the gum
Gums shrink making roots show
Abscesses and gum boils can develop
Teeth become loose and can drift
