Although we’re sad to see our lovely Audrey leaving the DD team, we do have one piece of good news: we have an excellent new hygienist/therapist joining us in January to cover for Heather’s maternity leave! Meet Chris!
“I’m originally from Newcastle upon Tyne and moved to Cheshire in 2013 after qualifying from Newcastle University with a HN Dip Dental Hygiene + Dental Therapy.
In 2014 I decided to continue my studies and obtain a BSc Health Care (Salford University) focusing on pain management, safeguarding children/vulnerable adults, leadership and tissue viability.
I would say, I’ve had an early upbringing in dentistry: my moher also qualified at Newcastle Dental Hospital as a dental hygienist and my grandmother was a dental nurse in Brighton. More recently I’ve been involved in setting up DHT-UK Association to provide support and organize courses for dental hygienists/therapists across the UK. Previous studies had brought myself to assist the World Health Organisation in Dental Public Health for dental research in Salford and I have experience in both Private and NHS dentistry.
As a combined hygienist and therapist, my main duties are maintaining dental health and treating periodontal conditions, general fillings in both permanent and deciduous teeth, extractions of deciduous teeth and providing routine hygiene appointments and preventative advice/care.
In my spare time, I enjoy socializing with friends and family, or planning my next trip to Canada. One of my favorite meals would be Fajitas or going to an old warm country pub with home-cooked food. When I am back up home, I enjoy a trip up to the beautiful Northumberland countryside and being able to relax without any of the hustle-and-bustle of the city.
