Did you know that alongside our adult payment plans we can also cover your children too?
As you know looking after your children’s teeth and getting them into good habits early really gives them the best start when it comes to their dental health, we can help you with that.
Whether your child is on a plan or not, Kelly our Oral Health educator, can go through with them their oral hygiene routine to make sure their home care is good, dietary advice to highlight any problems and we can also apply topical fluoride to your child’s teeth which will help to protect them against caries.
Did you know that there are many foods which have hidden sugars and that even though a product might say sugar free this doesn’t mean that they are necessarily tooth friendly? Kelly can go through this with you and we sometimes provide diet sheets so we can show you specific areas that you might not be sure of?
Stoke on Trent and the surrounding areas do not have fluoride added to the water so we recommend a fluoride toothpaste of between 1350ppm and 1450ppm or above. PPM means parts per million and this will provide the adequate amount of fluoride to help keep teeth healthy! If your little one is under the age of 7 please supervise them closely when brushing so they are not swallowing too much toothpaste and only use a smear of paste if they are 3 or under. It is recommended that they brush last thing before bed and at one other time in the day.
Fluoride disrupts the process of tooth decay by:
• changing the structure of developing enamel, making it more resistant to acid attack – these structural changes occur if a child consumes fluoride during the period when enamel develops (mainly up to seven years of age)
• encouraging better quality enamel to form that’s more resistant to acid attack
• reducing plaque bacteria’s ability to produce acid, which is the cause of tooth decay
In addition to this if your child goes onto one of our plans they will receive a goody bag and a 20% discount on treatment. Our little gems plans are £6.70 per month.
