Over the next few weeks we are excited to be introducing a new health check for our patients! As one of the few practices in the area offering this we are very proud to be moving forward to support our patients overall health not just their oral health.
There have been many studies that have shown a link between oral health and overall health. Poor oral health has been linked to systemic diseases such as heart disease, diabetes, stroke, dementia, arthritis and even some pregnancy complications.
Your mouth is the gateway to your body studies have shown that oral pathogens have been detected within areas of the body that are infected or carry disease. Further studies show inflammation of the mouth (periodontal disease) are linked to many other diseases of the body.
