We are delighted to announce our new Nervous Patient Management programme here at Diana Dental!
Our No Fear; No Judgment scheme has been a few months in the making but we are delighted with our new system for nervous patients! We are here to help you move forward not look back!!
Did you know that nearly 75% of adults in the UK experience some degree of anxiety when coming to the dentist? This could be due to a number of factors including a previous bad experience or for some people simply not being well informed of what is going on can lead to anxiety and stress about the dentist. We listen to our nervous patients and have come up with our special programme to help manage this.
We are extremely lucky to have a Patient Experience Manager at our practice, our lovely Cindy will take the lead in reassuring you and supporting you when you need it. We find for a lot of patients there are a couple of easy ideas to help manage your anxiety these could be;
Making appointments first thing in the morning so you don’t have to think about coming in all day.
Bringing a friend or family member with you (after Covid restrictions have lifted)
Wearing headphones whilst having treatment and listening to your favourite song/radio station
Eat a good breakfast or lunch before you come into the practice
Ask questions if you are unsure- there is no such thing as a stupid question!!
Sedation is also available at the practice
Try to not dwell on the past- this can be difficult if you haven’t seen a dentist for a long time due to your anxiety but please be reassured- Your teeth are not going to be the worst we have ever seen; there is NO JUDGEMENT HERE- we are here to help not judge (we have all put things off that we find overwhelming or difficult) – we can help you!
You can expect your patient journey to look something like this;
Our lovely Cindy will see you initially in our consultation room (a non clinical area) to have a chat, discuss your dental history, any medical concerns and if you can identify what causes your anxiety.
We will discuss ideas to help you feel more at ease about your visit – we have had lots of different requests over the years so please don’t be embarrassed! We have patients who feel more comfortable with no shoes on in surgery which is fine!
Cindy will introduce you to our lovely dentist Andy who will take over and do a full dental examination. He will take plenty of time to discuss everything with you- you will then see Cindy again to reiterate what Andy has found and she will discuss appointments and costings with you.
Cindy will also provide you with her direct email address so any questions/issues can be directed straight to her to deal with.
After you have finished we will encourage you to become a member of one of our dental plans to encourage regular visits with us to maintain your teeth- we want to support you (and your family) in the future too so this will help future appointment planning so you can keep up to date with your visits.
