These days many adults are opting to straighten their teeth using aligners or traditional fixed brace methods. Many of the patients we see have previously had orthodontic treatment as a teenager and come in to see us complaining that their teeth have drifted back to their original position (pre braces).
This is because regardless of age and the method of straightening your teeth they will always move back to their original position eventually so we need to stop this to maintain your results.
Retention is how we do this. At Diana Dental we recommend removeable clear retainers. Fixed retainers are available that are fixed to the back of your teeth so they are invisible but we recommend removable so you are in complete control of this all important stage.
To maintain your orthodontic results, we scan you with our iTero scanner (no messy impressions) and send these off, we then get sent 3 sets of Vivera retainers- so you always have spare. These retainers are state of the art and very strong but also comfortable and practical. We can provide this treatment even if you have not had your orthodontic treatment with us.
We recommend nightly wear of these retainers and they will very quickly become part of your bedtime routine. Give them a quick clean in the morning and keep them in their storage box for safety (dogs love them!?). This will protect your teeth from movement and protect the investment you have made for your new smile in both your time and money.
